Wonderful set of photos recording old Ocean Grove. We were lucky to grow up at 114 Dare st. My Dutch family rented a large house with fantastic views for 10 years, leaving for East Geelong early 1965. “Woorilla” as it was called, used to be just to the right of the big cyprus now seen looming over 2 new houses. We loved the house, the large block it was on and Ocean grove. Very happy to have settled here. Now I live in Wallington. ( Jac Renzenbrink 24/5/15 )

Hi Jac – so glad you enjoyed the photos – they were meant to be shared and that is exactly what Bob [Irving] wanted. You might be interested in the details of all the land in Old Ocean Grove – http://geelonganddistrict.com/2014/09/30/update-of-ocean-grove-land-titles/ . You’ll find that 114 Dare Street is Allotment B096 {Lot 96 in Section B].
Do you have any photos of the house – if so I would really love a copy to add to this database of Old Ocean Grove. Just click on CONTACT US in the menu at the top, that way it will be private and not open for all to see.
Thank you for getting in touch … Susie Zada

Hi Susie, Yes I have a few of the house. One of my big regrets is that when I took over my parent’s box camera, I didn’t walk around the neighbourhood and take photos of the various buildings around the Grove. Such as the methodist camp cookhouse where I attended school in grade 4 or the old Cathkin on the corner. Anyway, I look forward to meeting you one day. You are the history Guru of the Bellarine. Give me a week or so to scan my photos. Where can I send them to you?

Hi Jac – thank you for the lovely compliments. My email is szada@zades.com.au
There were some amazing old places around Ocean Grove – as you said, a real pity that most are gone. But there are also a lot of old photos appearing from out of the woodwork. Many thanks … Susie Z
